COVID-19 has been wreaking havoc on the world's healthcare systems and economies. In the electronics industry, the closure of many of China's factories caused a disruption in many of the global electronics industry's supply chains, explains leading semiconductor distributor Abacus Technologies.
Many supply deliveries are stalled for as long as 5 weeks while the world is attempting to recover. In a survey conducted by the Electronics Components Industry Association (ECIA), several large electronics groups express optimism that COVID-19 did not disturb their supply chains. This is a stark contrast to the result of the ECIA's previous survey, which showed that several companies have a hard time seeing the overall view of their supply chains and the pandemic's effects on them.
The prognosis on the industry, however, is that companies will have to play a balancing act on supply and demand as the pandemic continues to break in various centers across the world. Although this issue appears on the horizon, several manufacturing firms have taken it upon their shoulders to respond to the world's need for respirators and masks by converting their capabilities and retooling them to make these important life-saving items.

Tech giants like IBM, Microsoft, and Google formed a consortium to make vast computing resources available for labs to help them work against this pandemic.
COVID-19 is such a large threat that many industries seem to be putting in something that equals to a wartime effort. It's critical that the electronics industry pitches in to preserve the world's way of life against this challenge, adds Abacus Technologies.
